FemTech up North started as FemTech Leeds with the aim to find the early stage femtech founders in the city, get them in a room, and let them talk honestly about what they were building and what was getting in the way.
Founders came. Lots of them weren't from Leeds but from a surrounding area. Bradford, Wakefield, Huddersfield, Harrogate, York and further out. More than a few nearly didn't come because they thought the network wasn't for them. Turns out you can be too Leeds-centric. So we became FemTech up North.
FemTech Leeds is still home. It's where we're based and where most of our events happen. We'll always champion Leeds and Yorkshire, because we're biased and we think it's brilliant. And of course we love our innovators in the South. But women's health doesn't stop at the M25, and founders up here need hubs, bases and networks of their own.
